That’s just it…. Apple IS stupid. They were filing for bankruptcy in 1996. Microsoft bailed them out.

Apple makes mistakes. LOTS of them.

  2. nUts Says:

Because they know PC is superior.

  3. Tim Says:

Apple is a bunch of egotistical morons who can shove it all up their I-ass.

  4. Caolan C Says:

um, actually Apple IS stupid. They are just incredibly rich because they cater to technology illiterate people or those who don’t want to learn how to use things, they just want it to work.

If you actually know the anything about the tech industries Apple is in, they make poor decisions monthly.

who says they failed? last time I checked, they could sell a hot dog for $499 as long as it had their logo on it.

I don’t know why apple shoots themselves in the foot. They do it all the freakin time! its like they have to make up for their moments of genius with moments of equal stupidity.

I think the iPad is a waste of money, too. So was the Apple Air netbook. I own a MacBookPro and love it, but don’t own an iPod or use iTunes, either. I just like the OS.

Multi-tasking is coming with version update 4.0, but still… the iPad is still pretty fail. :P

Quite simply Apple caters to people who’ve no clue.
They honestly believe (and history shows them right in that) that with enough viral marketing and hype generation they can sell anything in large enough numbers and at exorbitant prices before the punters find out they’ve been had.
And those same punters are stupid enough to fall for it again and again with every new product Apple puts on the market, willingly letting themselves get duped every few months into buying a “new and improved” version of something they bought then set aside because it doesn’t do what it promises.

Are they stupid? Yes and no.
They’re stupid in that they keep designing and producing disfunctional things that have poor quality overall.
But at the same time they’re incredibly smart to do that because in combination with their marketing and hype control those functional gaps mean they can sell a lot of new units of “improved” versions to customers every few months, which shows they have found out that customers are even more stupid than their own product designers.
Maybe they’ve learned that from analysing election campaign promises which also are all hype and hot air, loads of nothing in a nice shiny package, yet sell millions and millions into voting for people they know full well are going to screw them over time and time again.

They sold over three quarters of a million units in the US the first week the iPad was out (300,000 of those on the first day!)…..how is that a fail?

Just because it doesn’t appeal to you doesn’t mean it’s a failure. I create and sell financial plans for people and businesses: I can’t sell you a plan that doesn’t fit your needs – same with Apple. If you don’t like the iPad don’t buy it. But I would have to argue that it’s not a failure overall.

And at the end of May when they release worldwide? Sales are going to be huge!

    Excellent trolling question… nice.

I won’t be buying one anytime soon but I’m not sure I agree they failed. They may have failed to please you and I (and a few others) but they’ve succeeded to sell lots of them:
    http://www.macrumors.com/2010/04/07/ipad-sales-estimated-to-have-already-surpassed-500000/

They leave out everything they possibly can. It benefits them by saving money in parts/design, cleaner designs, and fewer features usually equals fewer things to go wrong so lower support costs. If they leave out a few things they shouldn’t have they can, and do, go back and add them later (e.g. SD memory slots).

Seems like they take Einstein to heart:
“Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
